Supervised student application of central service theory and laboratory skills.
Prerequisites: HCS101 or HCS101AA and HCS101AB or permission of instructor. Corequisites: HCS110.

1. Demonstrate professional communication skills and ethical standards. (I-IX)
2. Complete the tasks listed in the Hospital Central Service Clinical Evaluation Handbook. (I-IX)
3. Demonstrate aseptic technique, universal precautions and safety awareness including equipment checks. (III)
4. Demonstrate manual and mechanical cleaning methods. (IV)
5. Prepare, assemble and wrap instruments, trays, surgical packs and individual items in a specified order. (V)
6. Load and operate steam and gas sterilizers and aerators. (VI)
7. Demonstrate monitoring procedures including appropriate documentation. (VII)
8. Perform appropriate documentation and reporting according to Hospital Central Service Standards. (VIII)
9. Distribute, restock, and inventory supplies within a specified time limit. (IX)
