Doorway, wall, vault, and building accessory installation; care and maintenance of aluminum, bronze and stainless steel construction materials.
Prerequisites: IRW160 and apprentice status or permission of the Apprenticeship Coordinator.

Architectural Ironworking II

 

1.

Read and interpret blueprints for installation of sub-framing for entrance ways and select the proper tools for installation of sub-framing for entrance ways. (I)

2.

Setup, adjust and use a level-transit and use a leveling rod to establish an elevation. (II)

3.

Use a rule to establish new bench marks. (II)

4.

Convert liner to metric measurement and metric to linear measurement. (II)

5.

Solve field leveling problems involving signed numbers (+ or -). (II)

6.

Read the degree scale and vernier to measure angles, horizontal and vertical. (II)

7.

Properly care for transits. (II)

8.

Erect and install revolving doors, with overhead or floor mechanisms, following recommendations accompanying the materials. (III)

9.

Layout wall and window installation jobs, and erect walls and windows from pre-fabricated materials. (IV)

10.

Prepare surfaces for caulking and mix and apply caulking compounds properly. (V)

11.

Identify construction metals by their finish.(V)

12.

Handle, store, and clean construction metals properly. (V)

13.

Install vaults, drive-up windows, night depositories, mail chutes, door checks, and stage rigging. (VI)
