1.

Apply knowledge of infection control, first aid techniques, and safety in the clinical setting. (I)

Apply quality assurance procedures during specimen collection and specimen processing. (II)

Use specialized phlebotomy equipment. (II)

4.

Perform proper phlebotomy collection techniques on routine and non-routine patients. (III)

5.

Use proper specimen collection and handling techniques on routine and unusual or inadequate samples. (IV)

Apply special procedures in bleeding time testing and blood culture procurement. (V)

7.

Evaluate specimens for proper information on labels. (VI, VII)

8.

Determine appropriateness of specimen to analyses requested. (IV, VI, VII)
