Hazardous Materials Recertification
Review for recertification examination for hazardous materials for field ironworkers. Includes Material Safety Data Sheet, transportation of hazardous materials, OSHA(Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards for burning and welding in confined spaces. International Hand and Arm Signals. Completion of Certification Refresher Test.
Prerequisites: Registered apprentice status or permission of the apprenticeship coordinator.

1. Describe the Hazardous Material Training for Ironworkers and explain specific details that apply to the recertification examination. (I)
2. Describe specific chemical information and sampling including use of content in the Material Safety Data Sheet. (II)
3. Describe highway hazardous materials incidents reported in the newspapers. (III)
4. Define the term "confined space." List OSHA Standards for confined space entry procedures and explain the OSHA standards for burning and welding in a confined space. (IV)
5. Demonstrate specific International Hand and Arm Signals utilized on hazardous waste sites. (V)
6. Describe the Camden, New Jersey hazardous waste problems and list other similar situations. (VI)
7. Successfully complete the Certification Refresher Test. (VII)
