Methods for Teaching Structured English Immersion (SEI) and English as a Second Language (ESL)
Methods of developing lesson plans in language arts, science, math, social studies, and culture for English Language Learners (ELL). Emphasis on components of curriculum content, teaching techniques, development and evaluation of teaching materials. Approved school-based practicum required.
Prerequisites: Baccalaureate Degree and formal admission to a state approved post-baccalaureate teacher preparation program and (EDU225 or departmental approval), or must have a provisional or standard elementary, secondary, or special education teaching certificate.

4. Apply methods and techniques for teaching academic skills to the ELL student. (I)
5. Create lesson plans across the curriculum in English for the ELL student. (II)
6. Summarize classroom management techniques for students with various levels of proficiency and academic experience. (III)
7. Evaluate instructional materials in terms of students' linguistic, cultural, and academic needs. (III)
8. Modify instructional materials in terms of students' linguistic, cultural, and academic needs. (III)
9. Participate as a volunteer teacher aide. (IV)
10. Develop and implement a tutoring plan. (IV)
