Cardiac
Practicum |

Comprehensive,
high level practical experience at a cardiac clinical site. Observation and
cooperative work with indirect supervisory personnel in a coronary care
setting. Technical cardiac procedures, patient care, and radiation safety. Prerequisites: DMI/ICE277 and DMI/ICE279
or permission of the Nuclear Medicine Technology program director. |

1.

Adhere to agency policies and procedures in the clinical
setting. (I) |

Demonstrate ability to modify procedure to a given

Complete required documentation including the proper

Assist with routine departmental maintenance tasks
including cleaning and replenishing supplies. (II) |

Demonstrate technical skills related to cardiac imaging.

Demonstrate conformance with as low as reasonably
achievable (ALARA) principle to include use of dosimetry,
gloves, and shielding. (III) |

Correctly perform department quality assurance procedures.

Prepare imaging room for procedures. (III) |
10.

Accurately set all instrumentation and computer
acquisition parameters. (III) |
11.

Position patient or detector in required positions for all
cardiac procedures. (III) |

Correctly process all cardiac procedures. (III) |

Demonstrates the appropriate use of cardiac
radiopharmaceuticals and interventional drugs. (III) |
14.

Insure patient comfort and safety throughout examination.
