Characteristics, sources and health effects of indoor pollutants. Diagnosing indoor air quality (IAQ) problems. IAQ measurements and factors. Suppliers of data, equipment, and service. Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems in relation to IAQ. IAQ problems and prevention. Codes and standards. Energy efficiency and IAQ. IAQ management. Economic factors education requirements, and legal implications of IAQ.

1. Identify specific air pollutant factors and elements to include common indoor pollutants, primary sources, and associated health risks. (I)
2. Explain the process for diagnosing Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) problems. (II)
3. Describe specific IAQ measurements including testing factors, methods, and tactics, instrumentation, data analysis, and suppliers of data and equipment. (III)
4. Explain specific Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems in relation to IAQ including components, contributions of the HVAC system, use of filters and suppliers of equipment and service. (IV)
5. Identify mitigating IAQ problems, causes, correction, and the role of the management team. (V)
6. Describe basic prevention tactics for IAQ problems, the role of Standard 62, and design considerations. (VI)
7. Identify specific American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Inc. codes, standards, federal legislation, and pending regulatory activity. (VII)
8. Describe energy efficiency and IAQ including efficiency relationships, energy implications, improvement measures, and energy strategies. (VIII)
9. Identify specific factors involved with IAQ management including programs, policies, economics, education, and legal implications. (IX)
