Emphasis on basic writing skills in sentences and short paragraphs using correct, clear, and idiomatic English.

Prerequisites: Appropriate English or ESL placement score, or ESL040, or ESL042, or permission of department chair.

Basic Writing Skills for English as a Second Language

Generate at least (10) passages of writing demonstrating various grammatical concepts and correct idiomatic expression and diction. (I)

Use combining methods to produce different sentence patterns with correct punctuation. (I)

3.

Generate grammatically accurate, idiomatic writing in English with a main focus and appropriate supporting details following the writing process. (II)

4.

Revise written passages to correct common errors in sentence structure, spelling, punctuation and capitalization, verb forms, articles, prepositions, and phrasal verbs. (I, III)
