Dental Hygiene Theory I
Study of the dental hygiene process of care with emphasis on assessment, planning and implementation. Topics include instrumentation, adjunct dental hygiene services, instrument sharpening, computer technology, dental specialties and professional accountability. Prerequisites: (DHE120 and admission to the Dental Hygiene Program) or permission of instructor. Corequisites: DHE133.

6. Explain the significance of root morphology related to instrumentation techniques. (V)
7. Demonstrate proper patient selection for and operation of power scalers and air polishers. (V)
8. Explain the rationale and techniques for advanced dental hygiene treatment modalities. (V)

10. Explain and demonstrate principles of instrument sharpening. (VII)
11. Describe and demonstrate pulp responsiveness testing. (VIII)
