Intermediate Arabic I

Review of essential grammar of the Arabic language and study of the Arabic culture. Continued practice and development of reading, writing, and speaking skills. Emphasis on both fluency and accuracy in the spoken language.

Prerequisites: ARB102 or permission of Department or Division.

Paragraphs from Arabic newspaper, write compositions in Arabic, take dictation, and translate sentences. (I)

2.

Use dependent and independent pronouns, and use numerals with and without counted nouns in Arabic. (II)

3.

Conjugate the perfect verb (masculine and feminine), command (imperative), and negative command, use the passive voice, and use the prefixes of future tense. (II)

4.

Use adjectives and adverbs. (II)

5.

Use interrogative structure, conjunction, and definite articles. (II)

6.

Conjugate the dual forms of verbs, nouns, and pronouns, and identify the sound plural and broken plural (feminine and masculine). (II)

7.

Use comparative and superlative structure in Arabic. (II)

8.

Use welcoming and greeting expressions for morning in Arabic. (III)

9.

Translate and use some Arabic idioms. (IV)

10.

Describe current events taking place in the Arabic countries, and identify geographic and cultural diversities in the Arabic countries. (V)
