Proper manipulation, marksmanship, and tactical deployment of closed bolt type submachine gun. Focus on weapon's use in police situations including critical incident perimeter security, methodical "stealth" building searches, and crisis entry (raids). Prerequisites: Certified police officer.

1. Identify the four safety rules applied to all firearms. (I)
2. Demonstrate proper loading and unloading for the H&K MP5. (II)
3. Demonstrate the proper MP5 stance, sling usage, and selector manipulation. (III)
4. Demonstrate the proper method of zeroing the MP5. (IV)
5. Demonstrate proper firing techniques at varying distances, with and without movement. (V)
6. Demonstrate the proper response to the initial rounds being delivered and the adversary still having a threatening posture (failure drill). (VI)
7. Demonstrate proper MP5 malfunction clearances. (VII)
8. Demonstrate effective firing of the H&K MP5 machine gun when moving inside a confined area. (VIII)
9. Demonstrate proper cleaning of the weapon. (IX)
10. Identify the proper mindset when conducting a high risk raid. (X)
11. Demonstrate effective use of objectives for cover/concealment while firing from various positions. (XI)
12. Identify: The five target indicators Looking for outlines which may be hazardous to the officer Searching with the eyes which should be done from the floor to the ceiling "Slicing the pie" which may be done vertically or horizontally (XII)
13. Demonstrate proper MP5 retention methods. (XII)
14. Demonstrate the proper method of manipulating the MP5 in stealth searches, raids, and exiting from a van. (XIII)
15. Demonstrate the proper shoot or don't shoot decision while conducting a simulated building search. (XIV)
16. Demonstrate proper low light firing with the MP5. (XV)
17. Qualify on the MP5 qualification course by scoring at least 225 points (90 percent). (XVI)
