Writing Studio Workshop I: Cultural Viewpoints

Studio course focusing on the influence of culture and ethnicity on the writer, including factors such as age, gender, race, region, class, and sexual preference. Prewriting, writing, analysis, evaluation, and revision of creative writing generated from an exploration of culture.

Prerequisites: HUM120 or permission of Instructor.

Use several discovery and prewriting techniques to draft creative writing in genres of the student's choice. (I)

Describe various elements that can contribute to culture and ethnicity. (II)

3.

Produce a sample of creative writing generated from an exploration of culture and ethnicity. (III)

4.

Analyze and evaluate writing by fellow students, professional writers, and oneself. (IV)

5.

Use several revision techniques to develop and improve one's writing. (V)

6.

Submit a portfolio, in the appropriate manuscript form, of creative writing generated from an exploration of culture and ethnicity. (VI)
