Commercial Pilot Flight II

Advanced flight course in preparation for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial Pilot with Instrument rating practical examinations. Emphasis on commercial and high performance operations. Student must fly approximately 60 hours at own expense, including high performance operations. Requires passing commercial pilot and instrument rating check rides similar to the FAA check rides.

Prerequisites: AET210. Corequisites: AET213 and AET217.

1.

Locate required airplane and pilot documents, and explain their significance. (I)

2.

Plan a cross-country flight including weather, performance, airspace, facilities, weight and balance, and endurance considerations. (I)

3.

Explain the features and functions of basic airplane systems. (I)

4.

Explain proper emergency procedures for various system failures. (I)

5.

Evaluate airplane discrepancies and determine airworthiness. (II)

6.

Explain proper engine start procedures. (II)

7.

Demonstrate radio communication at a controlled field from pre-start to area departure. (III)

8.

Compare and contrast various entry points into an airport landing pattern. (III)

9.

Demonstrate normal, crosswind, short field, and soft field takeoff techniques. (IV)

10.

Demonstrate airplane control in slow flight situations including maneuvering and stalls. (V)

11.

Use steep turns, chandelles, lazy eights, and steep spirals to demonstrate precise airplane control coordination. (VI)

12.

Utilize ground reference maneuvers to demonstrate precise control of the airplane. (VII)

13.

Demonstrate emergency landings using appropriate facilities. (VIII)

14.

Employ proper reactions to airplane system failures. (VIII)

15.

Demonstrate precise airplane and airspeed control during normal, cross-wind, short-field, and soft-field landings. (IX)
