Assessment of Prior Learning: Portfolio Development
Techniques of portfolio development to document prior learning gained through experience, training, and/or previous education. Includes study of learning styles and levels, analysis of personal and vocational experiences, synthesis of these with competencies for specific courses, and integration of the above with other material to create a portfolio to be introduced for evaluation for credit.

1. Identify learning styles and cognitive levels. (I)
2. Analyze learning styles, interests, and skills in order to be able to determine level of complexity of prior learning activities. (I)
3. Develop personal goals and objectives and relate them to an education career plan to provide focus for portfolio. (I)
4. Integrate goals and objectives to develop education career program plan. (I)
5. Analyze goals and objectives to develop education career program plan. (II)
6. Write materials for portfolio including table of contents, preface materials, verification of prior credit, chronological records, and documentation of prior learning. (III)
7. Through the extensive writing of analytical essays, verify and provide evidence of learning by explaining how and what parts of prior learning are related to the course competencies in academic and vocational areas. (IV)
8. Generate written analysis, following Kolb's model, demonstrating learning experience equivalent to college course(s). (V)
9. Develop portfolio of materials and documentation of prior learning. (I-V)
