Overview of the history, present condition, and future of Air Traffic Control (ATC), and exploration of an air traffic controller's role in a terminal radar approach control environment.

Prerequisites: AET100.

1.         Describe the history of ATC. (I)

2.         Describe the present state of ATC and the required training for an air traffic controller. (I)

3.         Demonstrate knowledge of different types of controlling agencies and the equipment used. (II)

4.         Identify controlled and uncontrolled airspace within the National Airspace System and ATC's regulatory role to ensure the safety of flight. (III)

5.         Identify duties and responsibilities of ATC in Radar and Tower operations. (IV-V)

6.         Discuss the future of ATC related to regulations, technology and job placement. (VI)
