for Writers |

Analysis
and evaluation of selected readings to raise an individual's level of writing
using print and online reference materials and resources; selection of
important texts and research techniques to compose and annotate a reading
list in areas of interest. Prerequisites: CRW150, or permission of
Instructor. |

Course Notes: CRW200 may be repeated for
a total of six (6) credits. |

Readings for Writers |
1.

Identify and use on-line and print resources to compose a
reading list in a particular area of literature or writing. (I) |
2.

Choose a focus for a selected bibliography. (I, II) |
3.

Under the guidance of the instructor, compose list of
approximately 20 books and articles to be evaluated (including reference
materials, periodicals, internet resources, primary texts, and secondary
texts). (II-III) |
4.
|
After evaluating the listed sources, choose ten to read
and analyze in depth. (I, II) |
5.
|
Evaluate and analyze the ten selected works with the
instructor, explaining their significance within the field and their value to
the student. (III) |
6.
|
Write a one paragraph annotation for each of the ten
works. (IV) |
7.
|
Under direction of the instructor, revise annotations as
needed. (IV) |
8.
|
Compose selected, annotated bibliography in Modern Language
Association format of approximately ten entries that include reference
materials, periodicals, internet resources, primary texts, and secondary
texts. (II-V) |
9.
|
Write a three to five page evaluation of the independent
reading project. (VI) |
