Interior Systems: Ceilings and Clean Rooms
Ceiling components. Grid, ceiling, and access panels. Cemented and suspended ceilings. Clean room protocol: concepts, contaminants, carriers, classes of clean rooms, and clean room design. Federal Standard 209E: clean air, airborne particulates, and clean zones. Dry in: Levels I, II, III, and IV. Clean room violations.
Prerequisites: Registered Apprentice status with Central Arizona Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee or permission of apprenticeship coordinator.

1. Identify common ceiling components including anchors, hanger wires, and wall molding. (I)
2. Discuss factors relevant to installation of grid including suspension wires, alignment, form framing, square, pop rivet, and leveling. (II)
3. Discuss installation of ceiling and access panels, in exposed and concealed grid ceilings, and around columns and mechanical fixtures. (III)
4. Explain procedures for installing a cemented ceiling including: inspection, layout, tile preparation, adhesive, leveling and cutting, wall molding, and cementing. (IV)
5. Identify common types of suspended ceiling systems including exposed, concealed access, modular, cemented, and drywall systems. (V)
6. Discuss clean room protocol and concepts including types of contaminants, carriers of contaminants, classes of clean rooms, and clean room design. (VI)
7. Discuss Federal Standard 209E including clean air, airborne particulates, and clean zones. (VII )
8. Complete building "dry-in" for Levels I, II, III , IV of clean room protocol. (VIII)
9. Discuss clean room violations including but not limited to eating, smoking, paper/paper products, jewelry, and attire. (IX)
