Interior Systems
History, advantages, and applications of metal framing and drywall. Drywall products and metal framing components for interior partition work. Safe tool use and jobsite safety. Blueprints, specifications, and layout. Standard and special metal framing for partitions. Drywall installation on metal framework. Suspended ceiling systems. Ceiling components. Installing grid, ceiling, and access panels. Installing cemented ceiling. Clean room protocol: concepts, contaminants, carriers, classes of clean rooms, and clean room design. Federal Standard 209E: clean air, airborne particulates, and clean zones. Dry in: Levels I, II, III, and IV. Clean room violations. Prerequisites: Registered Apprentice status with Central Arizona Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee or permission of apprenticeship coordinator.

1. Discuss the history, advantages, and applications of metal framing and drywall. (I)
2. Identify drywall products, mental framing components, and various trims and fasteners used for interior partition work. (II)
3. Discuss safe and proper use of tools required for installation of drywall, metal stud partitions, and suspended ceilings. (III)
4. Discuss jobsite safety including contributors to job site accidents, hazards related to installation, ladder and rolling scaffold, proper lifting, material handling, and use of personal safety equipment. (IV)
5. Read blueprints and specifications to determine the type of partition, type of ceiling, the location, layout and related requirements. (V)
6. Layout and prepare mock installation of standard and special metal framing for interior drywall partitions. (VI)
7. Install single and multiple layered sheets of drywall on metal framework for standard and special applications. (VII)
8. Identify common types of suspended ceiling systems including exposed, concealed access, modular, cemented, and drywall systems. (VIII)
9. Install common ceiling components including anchors, hanger wires, and wall molding. (IX)
10. Discuss factors relevant to installation of grid including suspension wires, alignment, form framing, square, pop rivet, and leveling. (X)
11. Discuss installation of ceiling and access panels in exposed, and concealed, grid ceilings and around columns and mechanical fixtures. (XI)
12. Explain procedures for installing a cemented ceiling including inspection, layout, tile preparation, adhesive, leveling and cutting, wall molding, and cementing. (XII)
13. Discuss cleanroom protocol and concepts including types of contaminants, carriers of contaminants, classes of cleanrooms, and cleanroom design. (XIII)
14. Discuss Federal Standard 209E including clean air, airborne particulates, and clean zones. (XIV)
15. Complete building "dry-in" for Levels I, II, III , IV of Cleanroom Protocol. (XV)
16. Discuss cleanroom violations including, but not limited to, eating, smoking, paper/paper products, jewelry and attire. (XVI)
