Police Patrol Rifle Instructor
Techniques on proper manipulation and marksmanship skills needed by a patrol officer/deputy in the use of the patrol rifle, and techniques of teaching those skills to other officers/deputies. Prerequisites: AzPOST (Peace Officer Standard and Training) certified law enforcement firearms instructor, or permission of instructor.

1. List the four cardinal rules of firearm safety. (I)
2. Describe the six fundamentals of marksmanship. (II)
3. Describe the differences in "mechanical zero" and "battlefield zero". (III)
4. Demonstrate preparing a rifle for "cruiser ready". (IV)
5. Demonstrate proper weapon manipulation during loading, unloading, mechanical safety operation, sling presentations and tactical magazine exchanges. (V)
6. Demonstrate the proper methods of firing from standing, kneeling, sitting and prone. (VI)
7. Demonstrate immediate action drills to be performed if there is a failure to fire. (VII)
8. Demonstrate the ability to engage targets while moving laterally, forward and backward. (VIII)
9. Demonstrate proficiency with the rifle by qualifying with a score of at least 90% on the qualification course. (IX)
10. Demonstrate the ability to coach other shooters in the fundamentals of marksmanship, proper position shooting and weapon manipulation. (X)
