Police Precision Rifle Operator III
Advanced techniques of police precision rifle deployment with the emphasis on extended range considerations. Includes range estimation, effects of wind and other factors, extended range ballistics, target identification, and equipment considerations. Prerequisites: AJS289AA and AJS289AL, certified law enforcement officer, or permission of instructor.

1. Review principles of use, deployment, and marksmanship of the police precision rifle. (I)
2. Review principles of the methods of controlling informants, documenting covert information, and techniques used in covert operations. (II)
3. Describe the disadvantages to firing the precision rifle at extended ranges. (III)
4. Describe the tactics closing the distance on a threat during a tactical situation. (IV)
5. Describe the effects of the following when firing at extended ranges: wind, heat, altitude, and other weather conditions. (V)
6. Describe the effects of external ballistics when firing at extended ranges. (VI)
7. Describe the equipment required for successfully identifying and engaging a target at extended ranges, and describe the consequences of failing to accurately estimate the proper range at extended distances. (VII)
8. Describe the equipment required to accurately estimate extended ranges. (VIII)
9. Demonstrate the ability to accurately engage a target at 300, 400, 500, and 600 yards using both the hold off and scope adjustment methods. (IX)
10. Demonstrate the ability to accurately estimate range from 300 to 600 yards using several various methods. (IX)
